I've been a licensed clinical social worker in North Carolina (LCSW # C006543) since 2007 and a certified clinical social work supervisor since 2012. I've been active in the mental health community in North Carolina since 1995. Currently, I provide psychotherapy for teens 13+ and adults 18-64.
Before entering private practice, I served as a psychotherapist for 8 years at the Department of Psychiatry at the Duke University School of Medicine in Durham NC. In addition to therapy with teens, adults, and parents, I also provided approximately 250 safety assessments at the Duke Children's Evaluation Center.
Prior to that, I served as a clinical social worker for the Duke Cystic Fibrosis Center. This included providing psychosocial support to patients of all ages and their families, consulting with various organ transplant teams, providing on-call support to virtually all areas of Duke Medical Center, and teaching treatment adherence interventions to health care professionals at the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference.
Before becoming a social worker I was involved in health psychology and behavioral medicine research at Duke, with an emphasis on stress in heart disease and coping with chronic pain. Off and on, I worked at Duke for an amazing 25 years! My undergraduate and graduate degrees are both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
In my free time I'm almost always with my family, hopefully exploring nature.
